About the Course
The State of New Mexico requires concealed handgun carry permit applicants to take an initial 15-hour course in order to obtain their permit.
Desert Thunder Academy's New Mexico Concealed Carry course spans 15 hours and comprises two main components: classroom modules and a live fire segment.
Students will have a 30-day window to finish all classroom modules, the final test, and the in-person range. It's highly recommended to complete each module in one session.
Our course comprehensively addresses the essential qualifications and principles outlined by the Concealed Handgun Carry Act of 2003. In addition to these requirements, we delve into topics such as firearm regulations, principles of use of force, permissible and restricted carry locations, secure firearm storage and maintenance, as well as fundamental shooting techniques.
Following the successful completion of the online portion and final test, the remaining sessions will be conducted in-person and on the range. During this phase, students undergo live fire training, including shooting exercises at 3 and 7 yards to meet state standards.
